Any two [[Resident]]s can become Friends. You can use the [[Contacts Window]] to see easily whether your Friends are online, to send them an [[Instant Message]], or to open their [[Profile]]. Also, you can track a Friend on the '''Map''', and are notified each time they come online and go offline.

To facilite contacts with a Resident, yet without becoming their Friend, you can trade [[Calling Card]]s with them.

==Add Friend==
If the [[Resident]] is near to you [[Inworld]]:
*To add them to your Friends list, right-click on their [[Avatar]], and select "Add Friend" in the [[Avatar Pie Menu]].

If the Resident is far from you or offline:
*Open their [[Profile]] (see how under [[Profile]]) and click on the "Add Friend" button
*Click on the [[Communicate Button]] to open the [[Contacts Window]], click on the "Add" button to open the [[:Image:Choose_Resident.JPG|Choose Resident]] Window, and type in the name of the Resident you want to add
*Open the [[Search]] Window, select the People tab, type the Resident's name, select the Resident from the Search results and press the "Add Friend" button on their [[Profile]]

The other Resident will receive a notification of your request, which they must accept in order to become your Friend.

==Accepting or Declining a Friend Request==
When another Resident has offered friendship to you, a blue notice will appear in the top right corner of your screen. You can either:
*Click "Accept" to add yourself to their Friends list, and them to yours. The sender receives on-screen notification that their offer of friendship has been accepted.
*Click Decline to avoid being added to their Friends list,. The sender of the friendship offer receives on screen notification that their offer of friendship was declined. 

==Using the Contacts Window==
The [[Contacts Window]] shows you the list of all your [[Friend]]s, indicating which ones are online, and showing the permissions you have given each of them.

As mentioned above, you can use the [[Contacts Window]] to add someone as a Friend.

You can also use the [[Contacts Window]] to carry out several other actions with respect to any of your Friends, such as sending an [[Instant Message]], offering a [[Teleporting|Teleport]], and so on. For more information, see: [[Contacts Window]].
