Demonstration Avatar

Demonstration Avatars in the Library folder are a set of male, female, animal and robot outfits created by prominent Resident Creators to demonstrate some of the possibilities of Avatar creation in Second Life.

You are Born as a Demonstration Avatar

During Signup, you are given a choice among several Demonstration Avatars. You are then born Inworld in the form of the Demonstration Avatar you have chosen.

However, once you are Inworld it is very easy to change to another Demonstration Avatar. Or you can change your Avatar in many other ways, as described in Appearance, including using the Appearance Window.

Note that it is generally difficult to use the Appearance Window to modify individual parts of the Demonstation Avatars, because the Creators have set restrictive Permissions on them. If you want an Avatar that is easy to edit using the sliders and color choices of the Appearance Window, try changing to a Default Avatar.

Changing to another Demonstration Avatars

One easy way to change your appearance is to switch to another Demonstration Avatar.

The Demonstration Avatars together with their Clothes are all available within the Library folder, where they can be found in the Clothing subfolder. (It may seem strange for the entire Avatars including their body parts to be found in the "Clothing" folder, but they are.)

Each Demonstration Avatar is in a separate sub-folder, known as an Outfit. To change to a different Demonstration Avatar:

Open your Inventory by clicking on the "Inventory" Button at the right of the Toolbar
Open the Library folder at the bottom of your Inventory
Within the Library folder, find the Clothing subfolder, which contains the various Demonstration Avatar Outfits.
Hold the left mouse button down on the folder of the Outfit that you want to put on
Holding down the mouse button down, drag the Outfit folder over your Avatar, and release the mouse button (or you can just double-click on the Outfit folder)
Your Avatar will change into the new Demonstration Avatar that you have put on, with all of its Clothes (the change may take a few seconds to implement)
