Avatar Movement
From SLuserguide
Walking
To walk, use the arrow keys on your keyboard, as follows:
- Up arrow to move your Avatar forwards, and down arrow to move backwards
- Left arrow to turn your Avatar to the left, and right arrow to turn to the right
Your avatar will automatically walk up stairs or up an inclined surface if it is not too steep.
Always Run
To use the arrow keys for running instead of walking, press either:
- In the menus: World Menu > Always Run
- On the keyboard: CTL-R
- On a Mac: CMD-R
Double-Tap Run
Double-Tap Run allows you to switch easily between running and walking.
First enable Double-Tap Run (if it is not already enabled):
- In the menus: Advanced Menu> Character > Tap-Tap-Hold To Run
- On the keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+D or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D
- On a Mac: Option+Control+D.
Then:
- To run forward, double tap your Up arrow and hold it down.
- To walk again, single-tap and hold the Up arrow
To turn off Double-Tap Run:
- In the menus: Advanced Menu > Character > click again on "Tap-Tap-Hold To Run"
Flying
To rise in the air, either:
- Press the Page Up arrow
- Hold the "E" key (with the Chat Bar closed).
To fly horizontally, use the arrows on the keyboard.
To come down, press the Page Down arrow.
Unaided, an Avatar fly to a height of about 200 meters. You can go beyond this limit using a Flight Assist script, after which there is no effective limit to how high you can fly.
However, an avatar's maximum hover height is 50 meters plus the height of the terrain. Above this altitude, if you stop actively flying higher, you will sink to the maximum hover height.
Teleporting
To travel long distances within the World, it is more convenient to Teleport.
Move Pad
Basic Avatar movements can also be controlled using the Move Pad.
